New Year New Life – Day 2

 Today’s Task
Create a 10 year plan

Spend 20 minutes writing out your 10 year plan.

This is a much more detailed elaboration on yesterday’s challenge – yes, 20 minutes seems like a long time, but you want to do a very detailed plan.

I decided to break it down into years, to make it easier to split out my goals.

Overall goals

  • at least 2 holidays per year
  • date night once per month
  • keep the house tidy (either by my own efforts, or paying someone if we can afford it)
  • eat healthy, walk more, improve general fitness and strength

2015

  • minimum GPA of 5.0 at the end of my first year of Nursing
  • have completed my Bachelor of Psychology & graduated
  • keep our heads above water financially, so that we are not going backwards

2016

  • maintain minimum GPA of 5.0
  • get a job as an AIN somewhere
  • pay off my car loan

2017

  • maintain minimum GPA of 5.0
  • finish Nursing degree
  • start paying off Hubby’s car loan
  • start putting money away for house deposit

2018

  • get a job as a psychiatric nurse & work there for a year, overseas if possible
  • finish paying off Hubby’s car loan
  • keep saving for house deposit
  • sort out MD applications and GAMSAT

2019 (this is where things split a little) – I don’t know if I’ll be able to do what I want with nursing + psych, or whether I will continue on to the MD. That is something I will decide once I get there, but keeping my GPA above 5.0 will give me a reasonable chance of getting in.

  • start MD, maintaining minimum GPA of 5.0 OR keep working as a psychiatric nurse & do further training
  • keep saving for house deposit

2020

  • 2nd year MD, maintain minimum GPA 5.0 OR training as a nurse practitioner
  • keep saving for house deposit

2021

  • 3rd year MD, maintain minimum GPA 5.0 OR working as a nurse practitioner
  • keep putting money aside for house deposit

2022

  • 4th year MD, graduate with minimum GPA 5.0 OR working as a NP
  • buy house

2023

  • Intern year, OR working as NP
  • fix up house, if required
  • put extra money on house to build up equity
  • kids, if we decide we want to

2024

  • 2nd MD training year, or working as NP – possibly overseas
  • start building our own place
